Every Wednesday morning, Denise Aedan, librarian at Port Townsend’s Salish Coast Elementary School, hosts an on-line reading circle with Read to Rover dogs. She has been working with Salish Coast Read to Rover coordinator, Laura Joshel.

It turns out that one of the highlights of this program is that the kids get to bring their own pets to share. We’ve been introduced to their dogs, cats, and gerbils. This is a “feature” that could never be included in a traditional Read to Rover program and the kids seem to love it. The kids take turns reading books of their choosing and listen to wonderfully produced videos of books read by Denise.
