Our Year-end Challenge Has Been Met!

We’re excited to announce that our year-end challenge has been met! Thanks to all our supporters who donated during this matching grant program, Pet Pals will receive an additional $10,000 to serve the animals in our community.

Our challenge grant this year was made possible by Robin Hake, Marsha Wiener, Phyllis and Paul Becker, Kathleen Mitchell and Scott Landis, Bob Podrat, Pam and Keith Kolacy plus one local supporter who wished to remain anonymous.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this challenge grant a success.

Pet Pals receives a grant from the Port Townsend Friends of the Arts

Pet Pals is excited to announce that the Port Townsend Friends of the Arts has given us a grant of $5000 to support and enhance our cultural events such as PT Short Tails, our collaborations with local artists to help animals in the community, and the activities of the READ to ROVER program in the schools and libraries. We are very grateful for their support. This will allow us to create more programs that encourage the contributions of local artists to benefit dogs, cats, and the people that love them in our community.

Thank you to Sheila Piccini, owner of Secret Gardens Nursery, who offered a fall sale that provided special discounts for customers who included a donation to Pet Pals when they made their purchases. Thanks also to our supporters who made donations in response to her offer. Pet Pals will receive $361.67 as a result.

Turn Clothes into Donations at Fancy Feathers

Did you know that Pet Pals has an account at Fancy Feathers, Port Townsend’s clothing resale store? Take your gently-used clothing to them and ask to have them sold on the Pet Pals account. They’ll send the commission directly to us. Fancy Feathers is located at 910 Water Street on the lower level.

A special thanks to Steve Duno for sharing his fascinating insights on how the animals in the film could have been trained to do the amazing things required of them. His explanations of the training tricks he saw being used in various scenes made our experience of the film so much richer.

We are grateful to the Friends of the Library, Nina Noble Design, and First Baptist Church for their support in promoting and holding the event.

What a Night at the Theatre!

Olympic Mountain Pet Pals wants to thank the Key City Public Theatre for a wonderful sold-out performance of Heartbreak Houseby George Bernard Shaw, directed by Denise Winter.  Proceeds from the April 24th preview night went to benefit the Olympic Mountain Pet Pals, raising more than $1,500 for our programs to help local animals. Thanks also to all our supporters who came out to enjoy the performance as well as the wine, champagne, desserts, and each other’s company.

Local artist, Liz Reutlinger, exhibited her oil paintings at the Uptown Dental Clinic from January to April 2013. She generously offered to give Pet Pals 50% of all proceeds.  We would like to thank her for her donation of over $3,200 resulting from this exhibit.  Thanks also to the Uptown Clinic for hosting the exhibit.

Thanks go out to a group of Pet Pals supporters who offered a Challenge Grant to match contributions and to all those donors who responded. This year-end fundraising campaign raised $17,449 which will go a long way toward providing the approximately $36,000 needed annually to offer veterinary services in our spay/neuter program, Ginger’s fund, and the community cats program.
